SO I WANT TO FIRST UPDATE YOU WITH OUR CURRENT ENROLLMENT.

WE ARE AT 22,251 STUDENTS, AND THAT NUMBER JUST CONTINUES TO TREND UP.

WE KNOW THAT WE STARTED 3500 NEW HOME BUILDS THIS YEAR, BUT WE'VE ONLY CLOSED ON ABOUT 2200 HOMES, AND SO WE EXPECT FOR THAT NUMBER TO CONTINUE TO GROW AS WE YIELD ABOUT 0.8 STUDENTS FROM EACH HOME THAT CLOSES, AND SO ABOUT JANUARY OR FEBRUARY, WE WILL PROBABLY PEAK FOR THE YEAR AND THEN WE'LL START TRENDING BACK THE OTHER DIRECTION.

SO I WANTED TO GIVE YOU A HEADS UP ON THAT.

SO WE MAY BE COMING TO YOU FOR ADDITIONAL STAFFING AROUND JANUARY OR SO IF THAT TREND DOES CONTINUE.

NEXT, I REALLY WANTED TO POINT OUT WHAT OUR ATTENDANCE IS RIGHT NOW.

WE STILL HAVEN'T FULLY RECOVERED.

YOU KNOW, WE'RE STILL HAVING A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVING BOUTS WITH COVID, AND SO OUR ATTENDANCE RIGHT NOW IS 94.8%, AND TYPICALLY IN A IN A NON-COVID OR A PRE-COVID YEAR, WE WERE AROUND 96.5 AT THIS SAME TIME , AND SO UNTIL THE LEGISLATURE CHANGED THE WAY THAT THEY FUND PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THE FACT THAT KIDS NEED TO BE IN CLASS TO LEARN, WE NEED OUR KIDS TO BE IN SCHOOL.

SO WE DON'T WANT KIDS TO COME IF THEY'RE SICK AND THEY'RE NOT FEELING WELL BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT TO INFECT EVERYONE ELSE, BUT IF AT ALL POSSIBLE AND YOU FEEL GREAT, THEN PLEASE COME TO SCHOOL. WE NEED TO GET THAT NUMBER UP TO AROUND 96%.

THAT'S WHERE IT SHOULD BE.

YOU KNOW, WE'RE PREPARING THE FUTURE WORKFORCE AND EMPLOYERS REALLY LIKE THEIR EMPLOYEES TO COME TO WORK, AND SO IF WE'RE GETTING THEM READY FOR THE WORKFORCE, THEN WE NEED TO GET IN THAT PATTERN.

NEXT THING, WE ARE GOING TO CONTINUE WITH OUR FIGHTING FENTANYL CAMPAIGN.

A WEEK AGO FROM FRIDAY, WE SHOWED ALL OF OUR SECONDARY STUDENTS THE FIGHTING FENTANYL VIDEO, AND I THINK IT WAS REALLY

POWERFUL, AND WE HAVE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT IT AND WE NEED TO CONTINUE THOSE CONVERSATIONS.

OUR STUDENT ADVISORY PANEL IS WORKING ON A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN SO THAT THEY HOPEFULLY CAN TARGET A DIFFERENT AUDIENCE THROUGH THEIR OWN VOCABULARY AND LINGO.

HOPEFULLY IT'S ALL APPROPRIATE AND THEY CAN SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH WITH THEIR FRIENDS.

ON WEDNESDAY I HAVE MY REGIONAL SUPERINTENDENTS MEETING, AND AFTER THAT MEETING IS OVER WITH, WE ARE GOING TO START CRAFTING LEGISLATIVE PRIORITIES FOR THIS YEAR, AND AS SOON AS I'M ABLE TO GET THOSE COMPILED, I WILL SHARE THEM WITH YOU , AND THEN HOPEFULLY TOGETHER AS A TEAM OF EIGHT, WE CAN COME UP WITH A GOOD SET FOR OUR DISTRICT THAT THEN WE CAN ADVOCATE TO OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS MOVING FORWARD.

SO I HAD A MEETING WITH TEXAS PTA LAST WEEK AND WE TALKED ABOUT ALL THE THINGS THAT WE FELT WERE IMPORTANT, AND SO THEN IT GOES TO THE SUPERINTENDENTS PANEL AND THEN I HAVE A COUPLE OTHER ORGANIZATIONS AND THEN I KNOW YOU GUYS HAVE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL BOARDS, I HAVE TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS, AND BETWEEN ALL THESE DIFFERENT GROUPS, I SHOULD HAVE A PRETTY GOOD LIST, AND AS SOON AS I GET GET THE ONES THAT THESE DIFFERENT ORGANIZATIONS ARE COMPILING, I'LL SHARE THEM WITH YOU, AND THEN WE CAN ADD TO OR DELETE AND CUSTOMIZE FOR HAYS CISD.

AND THEN I WANTED TO SHARE WITH YOU, WE HAD OUR FIRST CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING WITH OUR PRINCIPALS AND DIRECTORS THIS PAST WEEK AT OUR ILT MEETING, AND, AND SO THE TITLE WAS LESSONS FROM THE MOUSE.

IT'S ABOUT DISNEY WORLD AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ALL OF THE POSITIVE THINGS THAT THEY DO TO MAKE SURE THAT THEIR CUSTOMER BASE IS VALUED AND HEARD AND LISTENED TO, AND SO THE PRINCIPALS AND DIRECTORS RECEIVE THAT, THAT TRAINING AND THEN NEXT OUR FRONTLINE PEOPLE WILL RECEIVE THAT IN OCTOBER, I BELIEVE.

SO THIS OCTOBER 1ST HAS KIND OF BEEN IN THE WORKS FOR A WHILE, AND LAST WEEK WE FOUND OUT THAT THERE'S ACTUALLY A BAND COMPETITION THAT DAY, AND UNFORTUNATELY WE HAVE A LOT OF OUR SWIMMERS AND WATER POLO PLAYERS THAT PARTICIPATE IN BAND AS WELL.

WE SHARE A LOT OF OUR ATHLETES FOR EXTRACURRICULARS, SO I'M LOOKING FOR SOME EXTRA VOLUNTEERS AND ALSO FOR SOME COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO TAKE PART IN THE ACTUAL RACE.

WE NEED ABOUT 150 PEOPLE JUST TO KIND OF BREAK EVEN WITH OUR COST, AND RIGHT NOW I HAVE 65, BUT I'M NOT PANICKING BECAUSE I KNOW THAT YOU FOLKS ARE GOING TO HELP ME SPREAD THE WORD.
