SO THIS YEAR IS THE YEAR THAT TEA DECIDED TO REORGANIZE AND WE'RE GOING TO A NEW MODEL OF STAAR.

AND SO THEY ARE GOING TO BE GOING THROUGH THE QUALITY CONTROL PROCESS AND THEY'LL TAKE RAW SCORES FROM THE TEST THAT WE ADMINISTER THIS SPRING AND THEN THEY WILL HAVE TO CONVERT THEM AND SCALE THEM WITH THE NEW PERFORMANCE LEVELS. AND SO THAT WON'T COME OUT UNTIL PROBABLY AROUND AUGUST.

AND AND SO IN MID-SEPTEMBER WE WILL RECEIVE A THROUGH F RATINGS.

AND SO THE TIMELINE IS GOING TO BE DELAYED SOMEWHAT BECAUSE OF THE NEW REDESIGN THIS YEAR.

SO I WANTED YOU GUYS TO BE UP TO SPEED AND UP TO DATE.

AND WHAT THIS IS GOING TO DO IS IT'S GOING TO CAUSE US TO HAVE TO USE SOME OTHER ASSESSMENT DATA WHEN WE'RE LOOKING AT EVALUATIONS, BECAUSE WE'RE NOT GOING TO GET THIS DATA BEFORE WE BRING DIFFERENT CONTRACTS TO YOU GUYS IN JUNE.

AND SO WE GET ABOUT 0.8 STUDENTS FROM EACH HOME.

AND SO IF WE HAVE 1300 ADDITIONAL HOMES, WE KNOW THAT WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO GET 600 TO 700 MORE KIDS AS THE YEAR CONTINUES TO PROGRESS.

SO I WANTED YOU TO BE AWARE OF THAT.

AND AND I KNOW HR IS EXCITED ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THEY'LL HAVE TO FIND EVEN MORE STAFF AS WE MOVE FORWARD.

SO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS COMPARED ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, MIDDLE SCHOOLS TO MIDDLE SCHOOLS, HIGH SCHOOL TO HIGH SCHOOL.

WE DON'T DO ADMIN BUILDINGS OR MULTIPURPOSE BUILDINGS.

THEY FALL IN DIFFERENT CATEGORIES.

BUT I'M HAPPY TO SAY THAT 20 BUILDINGS HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED ENERGY STAR BUILDINGS FOR 2022.

SO 20 OF YOUR 23 BUILDINGS MADE IT IN THE TOP 25 PERCENTILE OF BUILDINGS OF YOUR PEERS ACROSS THE UNITED STATES.

WE'VE ADOPTED A K THROUGH EIGHT UNIVERSAL MATH SCREENER THAT THAT YOU GUYS PURCHASED FOR US TO USE TO MEASURE GROWTH MORE FREQUENTLY.

AND THAT IS CALLED NWEA MAP, WHICH IS AN AMAZING SCREENER.

WE'VE ALLOWED OUR CAMPUSES SOME AUTONOMY TO CUSTOMIZE AND SELECT THEIR ONLINE MATH SUPPORT PROGRAMS. SOME OF OUR CAMPUSES WE'RE USING DREAMBOX, SOME NOW ARE PURCHASING IXL AND GET MORE MATH.

WE'VE ALSO GOT AN UPCOMING OCTOBER 7TH PD WHERE IT'S GOING TO BE VERY CONTENT SPECIFIC PD, PARTICULARLY FOR THOSE TEACHING MATH.

THEY'RE GOING TO GET THE MATH PD IN THAT AREA.

OUR EXPECTATION THAT BOTH AT THE ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY LEVEL IS THAT WE HAVE A DAILY PROBLEM SOLVING.

AT ALL ELEMENTARIES WE ARE USING DREAMBOX TO HELP WITH THOSE UNMASTERED SKILLS.

WE'RE PRESSING ON THE IMPORTANCE OF USING ALIGNED AND RIGOROUS INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AND RESOURCES.

WE OBVIOUSLY HAVE RESOURCES THAT WE'VE USED THAT ARE AT THE LEVEL THAT CAN HELP SUPPORT THE LEVEL OF RIGOR OF OUR CONTENT STANDARDS. YOU GUYS HAVE BEEN SO GENEROUS.

ABOUT ACCELERATING OUR HIGH PERFORMING FIFTH GRADERS TO ACCESS BOTH FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE CURRICULUM LIKE WE DO AND THAT'S PROBABLY WHY YOU ALSO SEE THAT OUR SEVENTH GRADE SCORES ARE NOT WHERE THEY ARE BECAUSE MOST OF OUR TOP PERFORMERS ARE ACTUALLY TAKING THE EIGHTH GRADE STAAR.

SO THEY THEY SKIPPED THAT SEVENTH GRADE STAAR.

SO IN THE FUTURE, WE DO PLAN, WE KNOW THAT WE'VE GOT TO DO MORE WORK AROUND PD IN THE AREA OF MATH FOR OUR THIRD THROUGH FIFTH GRADE TEACHERS TO INCREASE THEIR MATH CONTENT KNOWLEDGE. IN THE AREA OF ENGLISH ONE AND TWO, WE KNOW THAT WE'VE GOT SOME WORK TO DO THERE.

WE OBVIOUSLY ARE SUPPORTING FROM CNI, SUPPORTING OUR CAMPUSES.

I KNOW THERE'S A HUGE FOCUS ON WRITING, BUT ALSO WE'VE GOT THE INSTRUCTIONAL COACH AT THE HIGH SCHOOL SUPPORTING, ATTENDING PLCS.

THEY'RE COLLABORATING, THEY ARE CREATING COMMON FORMATIVE ASSESSMENTS AND THEY'RE WANTING TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY'RE FOLLOWING THE CURRICULUM WITH FIDELITY.

ALSO WITH OUR INSTRUCTIONAL ROUNDS, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE GIVING IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK SO THAT OUR TEACHERS KNOW HOW TO RESPOND TO THAT FEEDBACK.

AND THEN REALLY FOLLOWING UP OUR INSTRUCTIONAL PLAYBOOKS, PARTICULARLY AT LEHMAN HIGH SCHOOL, FOCUS ON STRUCTURED CONVERSATIONS, STRUCTURED WRITING. THEY HAVE SPECIFIC STRATEGIES THAT WILL HELP INCREASE THEIR ENGLISH ONE AND TWO PERFORMANCE.

WE'RE ALSO UTILIZING READING PLUS.

THEY'VE GOT AN INITIATIVE LIKE INCENTIVIZING A READING PLUS INCENTIVE.

WE'RE ALSO UTILIZING OUR INTERVENTION TEACHERS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL AND MAKING SURE THAT WE ARE PROVIDING VERY EXPLICIT READING INSTRUCTION.

WE KNOW THAT A LOT OF OUR KIDS COME TO US AT THE HIGH SCHOOL, NOT AT GRADE LEVEL, NOT READING AT GRADE LEVEL, SO WE ARE CONSTANTLY FOCUSING ON CLOSING THOSE GAPS.

SO WE'RE DOING THAT THROUGH READING PLUS AND OBVIOUSLY THROUGH EXPLICIT INSTRUCTION.

AND IT GOES ON WITH LIKE CONSISTENT LESSON PLANNING, MAKING SURE THAT WE'RE MONITORING LESSON PLAN AND DESIGN AS WELL AS DELIVERY.

AND SO SO THAT COVERS ENGLISH ONE AND TWO.

WHY AREN'T THESE GIRLS, THESE STUDENTS, MAKING THE GROWTH NECESSARY ON TELPAS? AND SO THE GOOD THING IS THAT WE'RE FOCUSING ON SPEAKING AND WRITING, AND ANYTHING THAT WE DO FOR TELPAS OBVIOUSLY WE'LL CORRELATE AND ALSO TRANSFER AND HELP WITH STAAR. NEXT SLIDE.

SO WHEN WE LOOK AT END OF YEAR TIER ONE, WE LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE WITH OUR KINDER THROUGH SECOND GRADE.

AND IF YOU LOOK AT THAT END OF YEAR TIER ONE, WE ENDED AT KINDERGARTEN AT 59%, FIRST GRADE AT 64%, SECOND GRADE AT 60%.

THIS. WHAT THIS TELLS US IS THAT 59% OF OUR KINDERGARTNERS WERE AT OR ABOVE GRADE LEVEL AT THE END OF KINDERGARTEN.

AND SO WE KNOW THAT WE'RE GOING TO NEED TO CONTINUE WORKING BY MAKING SURE THAT WE CONTINUE TO FOLLOW OUR PHONICS PROGRAM, AND TEACH IT WITH FIDELITY. THAT'S WHAT THIS TELLS US.

IF WE'RE NOT TEACHING PHONICS WITH FIDELITY, WE'RE NOT GOING TO GET 100% OF OUR KIDS ON LEVEL.

AND WE KNOW WE SOMETIMES RECEIVE STUDENTS BELOW LEVELS.

SO THIS IS ONE WAY THAT WE CAN MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE TEACHING OUR PHONICS PROGRAM WITH FIDELITY.

I KNOW THAT A LOT OF OUR TEACHERS STRUGGLED.

IF THEY WERE NEW TO OUR DISTRICT BECAUSE THEY WERE HAVING TO ALSO LEARN EVERYTHING THAT THEY WERE LEARNING THROUGH READING ACADEMIES ALONG WITH TEACHING PHONICS.

SO AGAIN, I THINK WE HAVE TO REALLY FOCUS ON MAKING SURE THAT OUR TEACHERS KNOW HOW TO USE OPEN COURT, WHICH IS OUR PHONICS PROGRAM, TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE CLOSING THOSE GAPS AND THAT WE SEND MORE OF OUR KIDS READY FOR THE NEXT GRADE LEVEL.

AND SO ON THE MAP GOALS, JUST SO YOU KNOW, THIS IS OUR FIRST YEAR THAT WE'RE UTILIZING THE MAP SCREENER.

SO IT'S REALLY HARD TO TO GAUGE AND SET A TARGET.

BUT WE'VE SET IT TO MIRROR OUR OUR READING GOALS.

NEXT SLIDE. THIS ONE'S A TOUGH ONE BECAUSE I KNOW THAT IN 2021 WE DID NOT ASSESS OUR STUDENTS.

I WANT TO BRAG ABOUT ALL THE THINGS THAT WE'RE DOING TO INCREASE OUR COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS.

AND I WANT TO THANK OUR DAOS, OUR PRINCIPALS AND OUR SUPERINTENDENT AND OUR DIRECTOR OF ADVANCED ACADEMICS, ALONG WITH OUR DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING, WHO ARE HELPING WITH THESE EFFORTS, ALONG WITH OUR PRINCIPALS, IS THAT WE'RE OBVIOUSLY INCREASING OUR STUDENTS OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE TSIA IF THEY HAVE NOT MET THE CCR CRITERIA BY THEIR SENIOR YEAR.

WE'RE WANTING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'VE TAKEN PSAT DAY TO BE KIND OF A DAY WHERE WE HAVE OUR SENIORS TAKE THE TSIA TOO SO THAT THEY CAN GO AHEAD AND AND TRY TO EARN THAT THAT CCR.

WE'VE INCREASED OUR STUDENT ENROLLMENT IN AP CLASSES.

WE'VE INCREASED DUAL CREDIT, DUAL ENROLLMENT, OVERALL.

JUST LAST YEAR WE WENT FROM LIKE 400, ALMOST 400 IBCS TO OVER 1000.

I BELIEVE SUZY WOULD SAY 1063.

BUT IT IS PRETTY AMAZING.

AGAIN, OUR DATA IS NOT GOING TO SHOW THAT PER SE BECAUSE IT'S, YOU KNOW, IN THE REARS, IT'S LAGGING BEHIND.

SO ALSO WITH A BLOCK SCHEDULE, IT WILL GIVE US MUCH MORE FLEXIBILITY AND INCREASE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE SUPPORT COURSES WHEN STUDENTS HAVEN'T MET THEIR CCR, BUT ALSO TO TAKE AN AP COURSE OR DUAL CREDIT COURSE THAT THEY MIGHT BE ABLE TO TAKE.

SO OUR CURRENT SENIORS, ACCORDING TO KEVIN, ARE SITTING ABOUT 10% HIGHER THAN LAST YEAR'S SENIORS AT THIS TIME, WHICH IS GREAT NEWS.

AND THEN LAST SPRING WE GAVE THE SAT AND HAD HIGHER PARTICIPATION THAN THE YEAR BEFORE, OBVIOUSLY BECAUSE WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF PANDEMIC OR KIND OF AT THE TAIL END.

AND I THINK WE'RE STILL IN THE PANDEMIC, BUT I KEEP PRETENDING LIKE WE'RE DONE.

AND SO NEXT SLIDE.

AND SO WITH THE HB REQUIRED BOARD GOALS, IT'S, I LOVE SEEING ALL THE GREEN ON THE SCREEN AND I KNOW WITH THIRD GRADE AT THE MEETS LEVEL THAT WE OBVIOUSLY MET OUR TARGETS.

IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT WE HAD TO START OR SET OUR GOALS IN 21 INSTEAD OF 2019, BECAUSE I BELIEVE THE CONVERSATION WAS TO START BACK IN 2019.

BUT BECAUSE WE DIDN'T HAVE DATA, WE HAD TO SET THE TARGET STARTING IN 21 FOR THE NEXT FIVE YEARS.

AND SO I KNOW THAT WE'LL HAVE TO ADJUST BASED ON HOW WELL OUR STUDENTS PERFORM.

AND SO AT THIS POINT, I KNOW THAT WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE SUB POPS AND YOU THINK OF OUR STUDENTS NOT MEETING OUR TARGETS.

KNOW THAT ONE OF THE FACTORS THAT MAKES IT QUITE DIFFICULT IS THAT WE TYPICALLY DON'T HAVE ENOUGH STUDENTS IN THAT SUB POPULATION.

WHEN YOU COMPARE OURSELVES, ESPECIALLY IN THIRD GRADE READING AND THIRD GRADE MATH TO THE STATE, WE ARE PERFORMING AT OR ABOVE THE STATE LEVEL. THE ONLY AREA WHERE WE ARE NOT PERFORMING CLOSE TO THE STATE AND BELOW THE STATE IS WITH OUR EMERGENT BILINGUALS.

AND SO WE'VE HAD CONVERSATIONS ABOUT WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO WITH OUR EBS TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY ARE, THAT WE ARE PERFORMING AT OR ABOVE THE STATE LEVEL AND REALLY ABOVE THE STATE LEVEL WOULD BE MY PREFERENCE.

AND THAT IS JUST TO HAVE MORE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TO HELP SUPPORT OUR BILINGUAL TEACHERS.

I KNOW THAT WE'VE STARTED PAIRED LITERACY AND THAT'S BASICALLY TEACHING OUR BILINGUAL STUDENTS TO READ IN BOTH LANGUAGES.

THAT'S, I THINK, A GREAT SHIFT IN HOW WE WE TEACH OUR STUDENTS TO PREPARE THEM, WHICH WILL NOT ONLY HELP US WITH TELPAS, BUT ALSO HELP LONG TERM ACADEMICALLY.
