AS A RESULT, WE RECRUITED A GREAT GROUP OF HARDWORKING, WELL-EDUCATED AND EXPERIENCED SLPS.

HOWEVER, I'M NOT SURE WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THEM.

I'M HERE TONIGHT IN SUPPORT OF OUR NEW SLP TEAM MEMBERS BY PRESENTING TO YOU THEIR LETTER TO THE BOARD.

IT STATES.

WE WANT TO START BY SAYING HOW ELATED WE WERE TO BECOME PART OF THE FAST.

ONE OF THE FASTEST GROWING DISTRICTS IN THE STATE.

WE WERE EXCITED TO GET STARTED.

HOWEVER, WE'VE BEEN FACED WITH A DIFFICULT SITUATION IN WHICH WE HAD NEVER ENCOUNTERED IN OTHER DISTRICTS.

OUR CONCERNS REGARDING THE HUMAN RESOURCES DEPARTMENT AND THE 7% SALARY INCREASE THAT WAS DISCUSSED BY THE SCHOOL BOARD ON APRIL 25TH, 2022, TO BE IMPLEMENTED THIS SCHOOL YEAR UPON BOARD VOTE APPROVAL IN JUNE 2022.

AS THE NEW HIRES, WE WERE NEVER AWARE OF WHAT WE WOULD GET PAID UNTIL OUR FIRST PAYCHECK.

UPON INITIAL HIRE, WE ALL SPOKE TO HR REPRESENTATIVES WHO PROVIDED NEW HIRE EMPLOYEES BOTH VERBAL AND WRITTEN INFORMATION REGARDING AN INCREASE IN OUR BASE SALARY, PENDING THE APPROVAL OF THE SCHOOL BOARD, WHICH WOULD INCLUDE THE 7% INCREASE.

AND IT WAS APPROVED AT THIS BOARD MEETING DATED FIVE 2522.

IT WAS STATED, QUOTE, REPORTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY COMMUNICATE THAT RECRUITING AND RETAINING EMPLOYEES IS BECOMING MORE CHALLENGING.

THIS INFORMATION, COUPLED WITH THE FAST GROWTH IN OUR IN OUR DISTRICT, NECESSITATES THE NEED OF MORE TEACHERS AND STAFF, SUGGESTING THAT WE CAN ANTICIPATE GREATER CHALLENGES IN RECRUITING AND RETAINING STAFF FOR THE 2223 SCHOOL YEAR.

AS SUCH, WE HAVE AN IMMEDIATE NEED TO COMMUNICATE A COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT TO CURRENT AND FUTURE EMPLOYEES.

PRIOR TO THE BUDGET ADOPTION OF JUNE 2022 AND PRIOR TO AND EXCUSE ME, ANY POTENTIAL EMPLOYEES RESIGNATIONS.

A COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT WILL HELP OFFSET INCREASES IN CENTRAL TEXAS, END QUOTE.

FURTHERMORE, IT STATED, QUOTE, AN EARLY ANNOUNCEMENT WILL ALLOW OUR DISTRICT TO COMMUNICATE THE INCREASE TO ANY PROSPECTIVE APPLICANT AND IMPROVE RECRUITMENT EFFORTS. HOWEVER CONTRADICTORY TO THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED SCHOOL BOARD MEETING DOCUMENTATION EMAILS FROM HR PERSONNEL, THE 2223 COMPENSATION PLAN IN VARIOUS NEWS OUTLETS, NEWS OUTLETS.

WE AS NEW HIRES, ARE NOT RECEIVING THE 7% INCREASE.

NEW HIRES FIRST HR EMAIL RECEIVED THE DAY OF THEIR INITIAL PAYCHECK.

STATED CONTRADICTORY NEW PERCENTAGE GUIDELINES.

THE EMAIL READ HAYS CISD FAMILY.

MANY EMPLOYEES WILL RECEIVE THEIR FIRST 20 TO 23 PAYCHECKS TODAY, AND WITH THAT COMES THE BOARD APPROVAL 7% INCREASE OF THE MIDPOINT FOR RETURNING EMPLOYEES. THIS DEMONSTRATES ENTRAPMENT OF NEW HIRES INTO THE DISTRICT WITHOUT ANY TRUE INTENTIONS OF THE NEWLY CREATED HR POD EXCUSE ME, THE NEWLY CREATED HR PODCAST, THE HAYES BEAT REPORTED AT THE 2020 MARK THAT ONLY RETURNING EMPLOYEES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE 7% RAISE AND NEW EMPLOYEES, WHICH AGAIN IS CONTRADICTORY TO THE BOARD'S DISCUSSION.

NO TEAM MEMBERS RECEIVED EMAIL DOCUMENTATION FROM DR.

MEDINA, DATED FOR 2722, INFORMING US ALL THAT HAYS CISD EMPLOYEES WILL BE PERMITTED, PROVIDED A 7% MIDPOINT INCREASE OF THEIR PROSPECTIVE PAY GRADES OR PAY SCALES. ADDITIONALLY, THIS EMAIL DETAILED HOW TO CALCULATE THE INCREASE IN SALARY BASED ON PAY GRADE PAY SCALE.

SINCE JUNE 2022, THE NEW HIRES HAVE MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT HR TO GET AN UPDATED SALARY RATE.

WE WORKED FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST WITHOUT HAVING CONCRETE ANSWERS ON WHAT OUR SALARY WAS GOING TO BE.

SEVERAL EMAILS WERE SENT TO MULTIPLE HR REPRESENTATIVES TO ONLY RECEIVE SALARY DISCREPANCIES, CONFUSION ON WHO TO SPEAK TO, AND VARIOUS CONCERNING RESPONSES SUCH AS I DON'T KNOW, AND IF THERE IS A LACK OF HR PERSONNEL SO THAT WE CANNOT ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS.

WHEN WE DID RECEIVE ANSWERS, THEY WERE CONFLICTING SEVERAL INACCURACIES.

BUT WITH ONE THING IN COMMON NO NEW HIRES RECEIVE A 7% INCREASE.

INSTEAD, WE WOULD RECEIVE 3.5 INCREASE, FOR WHICH THERE IS NO DOCUMENTATION EXPLAINING THE DECREASE PROMISED.

WAS THIS DECISION MADE ARBITRARILY? WHO MADE THIS DECISION? SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE WO OC, SEVERAL MEMBERS OF THE SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT INCLUDED NEW HIRES MET WITH DR.

MEDINA FOR 2 HOURS ON SEPTEMBER 27, 22.

THEY DID NOT GET THEIR ANSWERS, THEIR QUESTIONS ANSWERED.

THEY ASK WHAT IN WRITING? I'M JUST KIND OF SUMMING UP NOW WHAT IN WRITING? THEY HAD NONE TO PROVIDE AT THIS TIME, DR.

MEDINA SAID. THAT'S QUOTED.

I STARTED AS INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIST IN AP AND THEN PRINCIPAL A FEW YEARS INTO MY PRINCIPAL YEARS AT ELM GROVE, WE CAME ACROSS A PROGRAM CALLED LEADER AND ME.

THIS HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING THINGS FOR ELM GROVE.

I THINK OVER THE YEARS, WATCHING IT GROW HAS BEEN AWESOME.

LEADER IN ME TAKES STEPHEN COVEY'S SEVEN HABITS AND BRINGS THEM INTO THE CLASSROOM AND ONTO THE CAMPUS, AND IT FOCUSES IN ACADEMICS AND ENVIRONMENT AND IT'S JUST REALLY BROUGHT A LOT TO US.

NOT ONLY DOES IT FOCUS ON LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT OF OUR STUDENTS, BUT IT ALSO FOCUSES ON LEADERSHIP AND EMPOWERMENT OF OUR STAFF.
