OUR ATTENDANCE FOR THE FIRST 25 DAYS IS 94.67%.

SO WE ARE UP FROM LAST YEAR BY ABOUT 1.67 PERCENTAGE.

SO IT'S LOOKING BETTER STILL NOT WHERE I WANT IT TO BE, BUT IT'S GETTING BETTER ALL THE TIME, AND THAT'S IN SPITE OF ALL THE SICKNESS THAT WE HAVE GOING ON RIGHT NOW.

YOU GUYS HAVE ALL APPOINTED TWO MEMBERS AND WE'VE LOOKED AT SEVERAL DIFFERENT MAPS AND MR. SAVOY HAS A HOT BUTTON CALLED ZONE TALK NOW, AND SO PLEASE TAKE AN OPPORTUNITY TO REVIEW THE MAPS AND WEIGH IN AS FAR AS YOUR THOUGHTS.

WE ALSO HAVE THIS COMING WEDNESDAY, THE 27TH AT 6:30 P.M.

AT THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER, AN OPPORTUNITY TO DISCUSS SCHOOL FINANCE AHEAD OF THE UPCOMING SPECIAL SESSION THAT WILL BE CALLED BY GOVERNOR ABBOTT FOR OCTOBER, AND OUR REPRESENTATIVE, ERIN ZWIENER WILL BE THERE AND MR. RAO, OUR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER AND I, ALONG WITH A COUPLE OF OUR TEACHER ORGANIZATION PRESIDENTS, WILL BE SPEAKING AND INFORMING THE COMMUNITY ABOUT THE NEED FOR AN INCREASE DUE TO INFLATION THAT HASN'T OCCURRED SINCE 2019 ON OUR PER PUPIL SPENDING, AND SO ENCOURAGE EVERYBODY TO COME OUT AND SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS AND JUST JUST LEARN ABOUT HOW SCHOOLS ARE FUNDED BECAUSE IT'S VERY, VERY COMPLICATED, AND SO WE HOPE TO OFFER A REALLY GOOD PRIMER FOR THAT.

AS WE TYPICALLY AS A DISTRICT ENGAGE IN QUITE A FEW ACTIVITIES WITH THAT, RECOGNIZING THAT AND THE IMPORTANCE OF WHAT WE ARE SEEING IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITY, INCLUDING OUR CAMPUS COMMUNITIES, WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE CONTINUE OUR WAR ON FENTANYL.

MANY OF YOU HAVE HEARD ABOUT WHAT MR. MOFFITT AND HIS TEAM HAVE DONE IN REGARDS TO THE PRESENTATION THAT WE'RE DOING AT OUR FOOTBALL GAMES FOR OCTOBER, WHICH IS THE TAKE BACK PROGRAM.

COUPLED WITH THAT, WHAT WE ARE ALSO DOING IS WE ARE DOING A PURPLE RIBBON, WHICH IS SIGNIFYING OPIOID OVERDOSE, AND SO WHAT WE ARE DOING AT EACH OF OUR HOME GAMES FOR EACH OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS IS WE HAVE A PROGRAM THAT WE HAVE PUT TOGETHER WITH THE HELP OF THE COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT AND MS. RODRIGUEZ DONE, AND WITH THAT, WHAT WE ARE GOING TO BE DOING IS WE'VE ASKED EACH OF OUR FOOTBALL TEAMS TO PUT THIS PURPLE RIBBON ON THEIR HELMET TO SIGNIFY THEIR ALLIANCE WITH THIS PARTICULAR ACTIVITY AS WELL AS WE'VE GOT SOME REALLY COOL LITTLE SKIN TATTOOS FOR OUR BAND DANCE AND CHEER FOLKS.

WE RECOGNIZE THERE ARE SO MANY IMPORTANT THINGS OUT IN OUR COMMUNITY, BUT WHAT WE REALLY WANTED TO DO WITH HOW WE HAVE BEEN TOUCHED LOCALLY IS TO REALLY AFFECT YET ANOTHER ABILITY FOR US TO SHARE THAT WE ARE COMMITTED TO ERADICATING THIS FROM OUR COMMUNITY.

SO WE WILL WITH THAT ALSO HAVE MS. THE PROBLEM IS THE LEGISLATURE HAS DECIDED TO MAKE IT THEIR GOAL TO DISMANTLE PUBLIC EDUCATION, AND SO I AM WORRIED THAT WE'RE GOING TO PUT OURSELVES IN A PLACE WHERE WE CAN'T DO THIS OR WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT DECISIONS THAT THIS BOARD MAY NOT ALWAYS BE PRIVY TO, AND SO I JUST MAYBE MAYBE WE GET SOME DIRECTION FROM DR.

IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT THE LEGISLATURE STEP UP AND FUND BASED ON INFLATION OUR COST PER STUDENT OR FUNDING PER STUDENT.

THE REVENUE IS $6,160 PER CHILD, AND THAT HASN'T BEEN INCREASED SINCE 2019, AND WE'VE HAD THE LARGEST, MOST DRASTIC INCREASE OF INFLATION OVER THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS, AND SO WITH THAT IN MIND, JUST TO KEEP UP WITH INFLATION, THE BASIC ALLOTMENT WOULD HAVE BEEN RAISED BY OVER $1,000, AND SO IF THE STATE WILL DO THEIR PART, THEN WE WON'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING DRASTIC ON OUR END BUT WE'LL SEE WHERE THAT GOES, AND BUT I JUST WANTED TO HIGHLIGHT JUST IN CASE THE STATE DOESN'T DO THEIR PART, THEN WE WILL HAVE TO MAKE SOME TOUGH DECISIONS MOVING FORWARD.
