WE ARE SUPER EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT WE HAVE THE HIGHEST NUMBER OF PTA MEMBERS IN HAYS CISD WITH 612 AS OF RIGHT NOW, BUT WE HOPE TO MAYBE ADD MORE THIS EVENING.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL FOR OUR LEGACY THAT MR. AND MRS. TOBIAS HAS LEFT FOR US.

I'M ALSO GOING TO HAVE MISS BROCCOLI COME UP IN A SECOND AND INTRODUCE US.

WE ARE GROWING, GROWING, GROWING JUST LIKE EVERY SCHOOL IN HAYS.

WE ARE CURRENTLY AT 740 STUDENTS, AND WE'RE SUPER EXCITED BECAUSE WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ADD A FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING CLASS TO OUR GROUP. SO WE HAVE THREE FOUNDATIONAL LEARNING CLASSES.

WE'RE GROWING THE MOST IN OUR SPECIAL ED POPULATION, BUT FOR US THAT JUST MEANS MORE OPPORTUNITY FOR INCLUSION, MORE LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL OF OUR STUDENTS. AND WE ARE, WE JUST LOVE HAVING THEM ON CAMPUS.

WE HAVE SO MANY EXCITED THE LEADERSHIP TEAM WE HAVE AUTUMN IS HERE TONIGHT TO HIGHLIGHT OUR SAFETY TEAM.

SO IT'S A, IT'S AN OPPORTUNITY FOR US TO INCLUDE MORE STUDENTS.

OUR PLCS ARE FOCUSED ON OUR GROWTH AND PROFICIENCY.

OUR THEME THIS YEAR IS RISE AND SHINE BECAUSE WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO RISE GROWTH, BUT WE WANT THEM TO SHINE, RIGHT? OUR GOAL IS NOT ONLY THAT EACH INDIVIDUAL KID MAKES THAT GROWTH, THAT YEAR'S GROWTH, BUT WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERYBODY IS MEETING THE STANDARD FOR THEIR NEXT GRADE LEVEL.

SO THAT IS OUR FOCUS OF OUR INTENTIONAL PLCS.

TEAMS ARE WORKING HARD UTILIZING THE 15 DAY PLC PLANNING.

SO THANK YOU, BOARD FOR MAKING SURE THAT THAT WAS FUNDED.

IT WAS REALLY IMPACTFUL.

AND WE'RE SEEING IT MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE.

AND OUR TEACHERS UNDERSTANDING OF LEARNING STANDARDS AND OUR STUDENT GROWTH OUTCOMES.

SO SHARPEN THE SAW DAYS ARE TEACHER LED CLUBS WHERE THEY LEAD CLUBS WITH LIKE DANCE TEAM OR ENRICHMENT.

OR WE PARTNER WITH THE HAYS NUTRITION OR EVEN WITH LEHMAN HIGH SCHOOL AND WE JUST GIVE KIDS THE FUN OF CLUBS.

IT'S SUPER FUN AND AWESOME.

AND THEN WE USE LEADER IN ME AND EMERGENTRY TO DRIVE OUR PBIS.

AND SO THIS FOCUS IS REALLY ON CELEBRATING ALL OF OUR SUCCESSES.

AND WE REINFORCE OUR GOAL TO BE SAFE, RESPECTFUL AND RESPONSIBLE SCHOOL WIDE.

LAST YEAR WE HAD A SCHOOL WIDE GLO PARTY AND IT WAS AMAZING RIGHT? WASN'T IT AMAZING. IT WAS SO AWESOME.

OUR REALLY WHAT WE WANT TO FOCUS ON IS BEING TOBIAS IS THE PLACE TO BE, RIGHT? SO WE HAVE SO MANY AMAZING STAFF AND PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES.

OUR STAFF HAS ALREADY EARNED THE GOLDEN APPLE AWARD THANKS TO OUR INCREDIBLE PTA AND THEIR MEMBERSHIP DRIVE, AND JUST MAKING IT SUCH AN EXCITING AND COMMUNITY BASED PART OF OUR CAMPUS.

WE HAVE OUR MONTHLY SHINE AWARDS.

OUR LIBRARIAN WAS THE LIBRARIAN OF THE YEAR IN HAYS CISD, MISS ANNA HORTON, AND WE HAVE OUR FIRST GRADE TEAM HERE TONIGHT.

THEY HAVE THE HIGHEST GROWTH IN THE ENTIRE DISTRICT FOR ALL OF FIRST GRADE.

THEY WERE THE TOP FIVE, ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE IN THE TOP.

SO IT'S EXCITING.

IT'S AMAZING. SO WE'RE SUPER PROUD OF THEM PILOTING OUR ACCELERATED LEARNING PROGRAM.

AND THEY JUST DOVE RIGHT IN AND WE'VE SEEN PHENOMENAL RESULTS.

SO WE ARE THRILLED THAT THEY CAME TO SUPPORT US.

AND WE GET TO HIGHLIGHT THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE JUST MAKING SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR OUR STUDENTS.

AND THEN OUR LAST SLIDE IS OUR KIND OF.

OUR GOAL THIS YEAR IS WE CAN'T REALLY EXPLORE WITHOUT EXPLORING YOUR COMMUNITY, RIGHT? SO IF YOU'RE AN EXPLORER, YOU HAVE TO EMBRACE THE COMMUNITY THAT YOU'RE IN.

BUT THAT ALSO MEANS INVITING YOUR COMMUNITY TO COME AND VISIT.

SO WE'VE PARTNERED WITH LEHMAN.

IT'S BEEN AMAZING.

WE'VE HAD OUR FOOTBALL TEAM HELPED MOVE US AFTER OUR CONSTRUCTION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

BUT IT WAS WHAT A GREAT OPPORTUNITY, RIGHT? SO WE HAD A LOT OF THINGS THAT WE NEEDED MOVED, AND WE HAD SOME AMAZING, STRONG GUYS THAT WERE WILLING TO MOVE IT.

WE ARE SO GRATEFUL THAT WE CAN HAVE FAMILIES BACK ON OUR CAMPUS FOR GRANDPARENTS NIGHT.

LAST YEAR WE CELEBRATED OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY FOR TOBIAS, AND IT'S WE'RE READY FOR THE NEXT 20 YEARS TO BE EVEN MORE AMAZING.

SO AT TOBIAS WE SAY WORK HARD, BE KIND, EXPLORE.

YOU KNOW, COSTS KEEP, KEEP GOING UP, BUT THE FUNDING STAYS THE SAME.

SO IF YOU WANT TO SURVIVE, YOU KIND OF HAVE TO DIP INTO THE FUND BALANCE SOMETIMES.

I KNOW WE WORKED REALLY HARD TO TRY TO REDUCE THAT REVENUE SHORTFALL AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE GOING INTO THIS BUDGET SESSION, AND WE'RE DOING AS MUCH AS WE CAN WITH WHAT WE HAVE TO WORK WITH. BUT I KNOW NUMBER SIX IS POTENTIALLY AT RISK IF NOTHING CHANGES FOR NEXT YEAR, WHICH I THINK ALSO MAY PUT NUMBER NINE AT RISK, WHICH IS YOU KNOW, BASICALLY WHETHER OR NOT YOU HAD A REVENUE SHORTFALL OR NOT.

AND THEN IF YOU IF YOU DID, THEN YOU HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST 60 DAYS OF FUND BALANCE CASH ON HAND IF I'M READING THAT, UNDERSTANDING THAT CORRECTLY.

WORKING IN SPECIAL EDUCATION CLASSROOMS, WE HOPE TO BE ABLE TO ADDRESS THE STAFFING SHORTAGE.

THE EXACT AMOUNTS OF THE EXCESS PAYMENT IS A $40,000 INCREASE IN THE GROW YOUR OWN BUDGET, A $13,250 INCREASE FOR SPED CLASSROOM TEACHERS ONLY VIA INCREASES.

AND UNFORTUNATELY, IN MANY CASES, THE SAME STAFF WHO ARE BANKING ALL OF THIS COMP TIME WERE NEVER ABLE TO TAKE THE COMP TIME.

AND SO WHAT WE HAVE DECIDED AS A DISTRICT ACROSS DEPARTMENTS COLLABORATIVELY IS THAT WE WANT TO HONOR OUR EMPLOYEES, OUR NONEXEMPT EMPLOYEES, WHEN THEY WORK OVERTIME, THAT THEY GET PAID OVERTIME, THEY GET PAID TIME AND A HALF FOR THE HOURS THAT THEY WORK OVER 40 HOURS.

AND SO IN THAT DISCUSSION, AND THE DISTRICT HAS BEEN MOVING FOR MANY YEARS NOW TO ATTEND TO THE ISSUE OF ACCRUED COMP TIME.

AND SO NOW THE DISTRICT IS MOVING INTO BEST PRACTICE AND ENSURING TO PAY OUR EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR EXTRA HOURS. AND WITH THE MOVE TO FRONTLINE THOSE PAYMENTS ARE NOW MADE AUTOMATICALLY BECAUSE OF THE FACT THAT WE DON'T HAVE THESE ACCRUALS IN PLACE ANYMORE.

AND I'M LOOKING OVER AT OUR CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER SO HE CAN CORRECT ME IF, IF I'M SAYING ANYTHING INACCURATELY.

BUT PRIOR TO THAT OUR STAFF WERE HAVING TO WAIT FOR MANUALLY GENERATED PAYMENTS BECAUSE OUR, OUR SYSTEM IS DIFFERENT AND IT IS IMMEDIATE.

AND SO IN THIS CASE, WE'RE NOW ABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PAY OVERTIME.

AND WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT THE POLICY THAT WE HAD REFLECTED THE PRACTICE.

AND SO TO MAKE SURE THAT THERE WASN'T ANY CONFUSION, WE LOOKED AT DB LOCAL AND WE WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT IF EVERY ONE OF US CHIEFS GOT HIT BY A BUS, THAT OUR STAFF WOULD BE PAID THEIR OVERTIME.

AND SO WE PUT IT INTO THIS FOR FIRST READING, PRESENTING TO YOU, STATING THAT THE DISTRICT SHALL COMPENSATE WITH OVERTIME PAY FOR ANY OVERTIME WORKED BY NONEXEMPT EMPLOYEES.

OVERTIME SHALL NOT BE COMPENSATED WITH COMPENSATORY FOR A TIME, AND THE POLICY REVISIONS STRIKE THE OUTDATED LANGUAGE REGARDING COMPENSATORY TIME.
